E.A. Ellison 

L.R. Jarmon, Who Did Shooting, Freed ‘by Justice of Peace—Reward Is Offered 
for Capture. Acworth, Ga., November 25. In an altercation of several months’ 
standing, L.R. Jarmon, aged 40, shot and instantly killed E.A. Ellison, aged 
30, this morning at 9 o’clock, at Cross Roads, in Paulding county, near 
Acworth. It is stated that Ellison had insulted one of Jarmon’s daughters some 
time ago, and the matter had been carried to court, and this was the primary 
cause of the trouble. The only eyewitness to the tragedy was Dolf Blackman, 
who states that he was talking to Ellison in the road when Jarmon approached 
with his hand in his inside coat pocket. After approaching within three feet 
of Ellison he opened fire, shooting Ellison five times, several times in the 
head. He gave up to Justice of the Peace Jim Foster, who deputized a neighbor, 
R.A. Abney, to whom he turned over the prisoner. It is stated that Abney 
allowed the prisoner to return home and to talk freely with friends, and that 
while allowed his freedom he made his escape. He has not been recaptured. 
Jarmon is a man with a family. Ellison leaves a wife and two small children. 
Friends of Ellison are offering a reward for the capture of Jarmon.
