Thompson jb.thom@mindspring.com June 25, 2006, 11:22 pm The Dallas New Era, Dallas, Georgia, Thursday, June 9, 2005 Mr. William Ernest Fields Passes June 1 Mr. William Ernest Fields, age 84, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away June 1, 2005 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Fields was born September 1, 1920 in Paulding County, Georgia, son of the late Robert and Bessie Lee (Camp) Fields. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and a member of Dallas Second Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of more than 63 years, Mrs. L. E. Dodd Fields of Dallas; four sons, Mr. William “Bill” Fields of Dallas, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy (Nancy) Fields of Powder Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry “Beetle” (Debbie) Fields of Dallas and Mr. and Mrs. Sammy (Diane) Fields of Hiram; one sister, Mrs. Patsy Atcheson of Dallas; three brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fields, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fields and Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Fields, all of Dallas; grandchildren; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie Lee Fields; brothers, Mr. Clarence Fields, Mr. Calvin Fields, and Mr. Albert Fields and sisters, Mrs. Mae Morris Slaughter, Mrs. Ruth Townsend, Mrs. Carey Baxter and Mrs. Shirley Jackson. Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Benson Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Turner, Rev. Curtis Turner, and Rev. Paul Hebert officiating. Special music was provided by Johnny Turner, Curtis Turner, Mrs. Pam Turner, and Mrs. Rachel Reid. Interment followed in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. C. L. Powers officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Fields, Nicholas Fields, Skyler Fields, Corie Davis, Rob Cason, Jason Warlick, and Storm Fields. Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
