The Paulding New Era, July 25, 1884
North Side of Sweetwater, Weddington’s District.  

Old Uncle Billy Florence died on Friday, the 18th, and was buried at Pleasant 
Hill church on Saturday.  

Large congregation out to see the body laid away.  

He leaved a wife and children and a large connection to mourn the loss.  He 
had been a faithful member of the church for many years.  The church has lost 
a good member, the wife, a good husband, the children, a good father, the 
neighbors, a good, kind neighbor.  

Uncle Billy’s place will be hard to fill, but he leaves two sons, Mason J. 
Florence and J.B. Florence, who I think will fill the place in a great measure.
