Garner Passes Mr. Randall “Randy” Wayne Garner, age 50, of Winston, Georgia, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005. He was born January 27, 1955, son of Mr. Gerrill Garner and Mrs. Mary Jo Yearty Garner. He married Treva Hicks on September 25, 1976 at White Oak Springs Baptist Church in Dallas. He retired as a Construction Coordinator from Atlanta Gas Light Company following 24 years of service. He was a member of White Oak Springs Baptist Church in Dallas. Randy was a people person and displayed the core values of honesty and integrity and was a hard worker. His life was filled with laughter. He had a special place in his heart for his family and his only grandchild, Violet and loved to go to McDonald’s with her. His favorite time of the year was Christmastime. He served on the Board of Directors for the Douglas County Farm Bureau and participated in the Douglas County Farm Days Annual Event. He enjoyed life on the farm and working with cattle and chickens. He was an avid collector of antique tractors. On April 8, 1986 Randy’s father donated a kidney to him. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Treva Hicks Garner of Winston; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and Joey Nash of Carrollton; parents, Gerrill and Mary Jo Garner of Temple; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherrie and Hoard Glidewell of Villa Rica and Sue Coleman of Carrollton; granddaughter, Violet Elizabeth Nash of Carrollton; mother-in-law, Marvene Hicks of Douglasville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were conducted on Friday, April 29, 2005 at 2:00 pm from White Oak Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Simpson and Rev. Earl Partain officiating. Musical selections were rendered by Rev. Shae Tallent and Rev. Carl Partain. Interment followed in White Oak Springs Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joey Nash, Michael Coleman, Jacob Coleman, Jim Holcombe, Steve Rollins, and Curt Garner. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
