Mr. Gober was born September 3, 1909 in Paulding County, Georgia, son of the late George Henry Gober and the late Myrtie Mary White Gober. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Bartlett Lodge #139 F&AM (Emeritus member) for more than 50 years. Mr. Gober was also a Veteran of the State Guard (1940s) and worked as a Farmer. Survivors include his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Judy) Clark of Dallas; two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Doug (Margaret) Gober of Powder Springs and Mr. Ernest Gober of Dallas; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Mr. Ralph Gober of Hiram and 1sister, Mrs. Grace Shaw of Douglasville. In addition to his parents, George and Myrtie Gober, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Cleo Gober; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Gober and sisters, Melba Abernathy and Ruby Lynch. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church with Dr. Gil Watson and Rev. Harry Hawkins officiating. Special music was rendered by Joanne Allen and Harriett Mitchell. Interment followed in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Steve Gober, John Gober, Dwayne Clark, Mike Clark, Scott Clark, and Tommy Taylor serving as pallbearers.
