Roberts Godfrey Passes April 2, 2005 Mrs. Willie Mae Roberts Godfrey, age 89 of Powder Springs, formally of Hixon, Tennessee, died Saturday, April 2, 2005. Born in Hamilton, County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ransom and Elizabeth Shannon Roberts. During World War II she stayed at home to raise her daughter while her husband was away serving the Navy. She was a registered nurse, graduated from the Erlanger School of Nursing. Before moving to Powder Springs, she served as a nurse at Erlanger, Chattanooga Memorial and Children’s Hospital. She was an industrial nurse for the TNT plant. She owned and operated the Better Hearing Center of Chattanooga. She was a graduate of Chattanooga Central High Class of 1934. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs, Happy Hearts and the Faith Sunday School Class. She was a former member of Red Bank Bapt. Church and the Powder Springs Senior Citizens Center. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Godfrey, her sisters, Cleo Griffith and Gladys Mills and her brother, Wallace Roberts. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Reita and John Rogers of Powder Springs; her sister Rubie Smith of Powder Springs; her grandchildren, Janet Carroll, Leigh Anne Smith, both of Powder Springs and Melinda Reece of Cedartown; her great-grandchildren, Justin and Neal Carroll, Stephanie Lawhorne, Lauren, Shelly, Molly and Miles Reece. Funeral Services were held on Monday, April 4, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs with Reverends Mike Woods and Alan Davis officiating. Interment followed in Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Harold Wilcox Memorial Mission Fund c/o First Baptist Church, Powder Springs, Georgia 30127.
