Mrs. Hays was born January 12, 1918 in Paulding County, Georgia, daughter of the late Dean and Carrie (Porter) Summers. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was employed as a Beautician. Surviving are two daughters, Billy and Muriel Rainey and Robert and Donnie Jo Walden, both of Powder Springs; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Jack Summers of Winter Haven, Florida; sister, Dixie Matter of Miami, Florida and sister-in-law, Ruth Gaydon of Powder Springs. Funeral Services were held on October 9, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in Benson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Driskell officiating. Special music was rendered by Mr. Charles Cole. Interment followed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Hal Hayes, Terry Hays, Cody Bonds, Jack Summers, Chase Rainey, and Freddie Figuerdo.
