It is with regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of one of Paulding’s oldest and most honored citizens, Mr. William S. Hogue, which occurred at his residence, Tuesday, the 26th, resulting from pneumonia. He was about eight-five years of age and was one of the first settlers of Paulding County. In his younger days he was honored by his people with the office of sheriff, having been the first Sheriff ever elected in the county. Afterwards he was County Surveyor for many years. Paulding County then embraced a good deal of the territory belonging to Polk and Haralson counties and the county site was at Van Wert. He was for many years a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church, and died in the triumph of the Faith.
