Melvin Hutchens Passes April 16, 2005 Reverend Melvin Hutchens, age 72, of Dallas, Georgia died April 16, 2005 at WellStar Cobb Hospital. He was born on May 2, 1932 in Bartow County, Georgia, the son of the late Alfred and the late Katie Hutchens. He was Pastor of The House of Prayer Church; he had also been a heavy equipment operator. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Long Hutchens, who passed away in 1995; daughter, Wanda English in 1994; grandson, Shad English, 2002; brothers, Hubert and Herman Hutchens and sister, Eller Crawford. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Cochran and Destinee Hutchens, both of Dallas, Charlotte Hutchens and Vickey Aiken both of Villa Rica; brothers, William Hutchens of Powder Springs and Buddy Hutchins of Dallas; sisters, Frances Whitley of Tennessee, Clara Belle Hyatt and Delia Gowder, both of Dallas; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Landmon officiating. Music was rendered by Caroline Carver and Linda Bailey. Interment followed at Paulding Memorial Gardens with Danny Wade, Troy Bailey, Derek Bailey, David Crankshaw, Justin Crankshaw and Lance Dilbeck serving as pallbearers.
