Mr. Leggett was born August 22, 1916 in Paulding County, Georgia, son of Elbert L. and Annie (Dunford) Leggett. He was a member of Beulahland Baptist Church and member of Beulah Loge #698 F. & A.M. for more than 50 years. He worked as a carpenter and was a former deputy sheriff for Paulding County. Survivors include two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Leggett and Mr. Jimmy Leggett, both of Rockmart, Georgia; three grandsons, Micah Seth Morris, Mitchell Leggett, and Mr. and Mrs. Todd (Leigh) Leggett; great-granddaughters, Anna Grace Leggett, Brittany Leggett, and Katherine Lynn Taylor Morris; one great-grandson, Micah Seth Morris, II; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Campbell of Roswell; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lois Bearden of Rockmart and Mrs. Stella Leggett of Hiram. In addition to his parents, Elbert and Annie Leggett, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Audie C. Leggett, who passed away April 20, 2004; daughter, Mrs. Nancy L. Morris; sisters, Mrs. Hattie Leggett Ables and Mrs. Bernie Leggett and seven brothers, Frank Leggett, Joe Leggett, Albert Leggett, Cliff Leggett, Grady Leggett, Arthur Leggett and Clarence Leggett. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. from Benson Funderal Home chapel with Rev. L.A. Tapp officxiating. Special music was rendered by Mr. Tony Harris. Interment followed in Beaulahland Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbrearers: Frank Garner, Vader Underwood, Jimmy Clay, Webb Whitfield, Gene Hicks and Eston Smith. Members of Beulah Lodge #698 F. & A.M. were in charge of graveside services. Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
