Lawanna was a life long resident of Paulding County. She was born March 2nd, 1925 in Paulding County to the late Henry W. “Pete” Brown and the late Lona Holland Brown. She was a homemaker and music teacher, and member of First Baptist Church of Dallas since 1941. Surviving are her husband, Marvin F. (Red) Jones, to whom she was married for more than 62 years; daughters, Ms. Adel Jones of Highlands, North Carolina and Mr. and Mrs. John “Jim” (Jean) Pasquale of Nashville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Ms. Wendy Cates of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Mrs. Bette B. Dunn of Dallas; brother, Mrs. Curtis Brown of Bonham, Texas; sister-in-law, Mrs. James Jones of Dallas; brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Benson Jones of Columbus, Georgia; brother-in-law, Mrs. Thomas Ruben Jones of Blue Ridge, Georgia, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 4th, 2004 at 2 p.m. in Benson Chapel with Dr. Jim Akins and Rev. Donald J. Rackley officiating. Special music was rendered by Mrs. Rita Nan McTyre Henderson at the organ. Interment was held at Dallas Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Jimmy Upchurch, Dr. John Convington, Jud Alden, Steve Jones, Bruce Harris, Jim Pasquale and Charles Hardy. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Dallas City Cemetery Trust Fund. Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
