Good Woman Called To Her Reward

Many will regret to learn of the death, Sunday night, Jan. 6th, 1929 Of “Aunt” 
Margaret Maxwell. She was confined to her bed less than a Week and died at the 
home of Mr. Johnnie A. Matthews, friends of the deceased,

She was taken with flu first. Her nephew, Mr. I. M. Sheffieldm of Atlanta, 
learning of the sickness of his aunt, hurried to her bedside. The doctor had 
been and she had revived and was thought to to be better, but took a turn for 
the worst and lived only a short time.

Mrs. Maxwell was about 88 years old and had out lived most of her friends of 
her own age. She had a good memory and could relate, most interestingly, 
things that happened during the civil war period. All who knew her intimately 
admired her for her honesty, her plain speaking, her readiness to commend the 
Christian virtues of others and her equal readiness to condemn evil.

In the passing of “Aunt” Margaret Maxwell we indeed lose a good Woman, one who 
has served long and well.

The funeral was conducted from the Mt. Moriah Baptist church by Rev, E, S, 
Head and Rec. L. W. Harris.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs C. L. Harden of Rosville, Ga., Mrs Etta 
Twilley, of Atlanta, and one son Mr. Jess Maxwell, of Rockmart; two brothers, 
Mr. George Roberts, of Atlanta, and Mr. John Roberts of South Georgia. J. T. 
Lee, funeral director in charge.
