Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Lorene T. Meeks

Mrs. Lorene T. Meeks, age 89, of Dallas Georgia, passed away October 15, 2004 
at Southern Nursing Home.

Mrs. Meeks was born March 1, 1915 in Paulding County, Georgia, daughter of the 
late John and Nancy Jane (Morgan) Thaxton. Lorene was a Homemaker, worked as a 
Spinner in the Textile Industry and also worked on the farm and made quilts. 
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Mre Annie Ray Rowell Dodd of Dallas; two sons, 
Rev and Mrs. John Martin (Venice) Meeks of Sylvester, GA. and Mr. and Mrs. 
John Wendell (Ann) Meeks of Buchanan; grandsons, Dadrian Meeks and Henry Loyd 
Meeks; granddaughters, Nancy Jane Meeks, Sheila Kay Rowell, Melanie Lynn 
Meeks, Dawn Michelle Pressly, Valerie Sue Meeks and Lula Fay Meeks.

In addition to her parents, John and Nancy Thaxton, she was preceded in death 
by her husband, James Henry Meeks, to whom she was married on March 16, 1933l 
sisters Mrs. Maggie Ray Baker, Mrs. Ethel Hays and Mrs. Allie Hays and two 
brothers, Roy Thaxton and Floyd Thaxton.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. 
Bobby G. Walraven and Rev. John Meeks. Special music was provided by Bobby 
Smith, Stephennie Smith and Helen Smith.

Interment followed in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were 
Frankie Rowell, Lex Rowell, Marty Meeks, and Matt Meeks.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
