Jones Mitchell Passes May 29, 2005 Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Jones Mitchell was born on February 3, 1929 to the late Sam and Ruby Jones in Alpharetta, Georgia. She departed life May 29, 2005. She was the first of seven children. She graduated from Chamblee High School as the Valedictorian of her class in 1946 and went on to attend Clark College and Reed Business College. At an early age she joined China Grove Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Reverend O. C. Woods. She united spiritually with Charity Missionary Baptist Church in 1984 under the leadership of the late Reverend Nathan Hutson. On July 3, 1950 she married the late Deacon Wylie Mitchell. To this union of 50 years, seven children were born. During her life, she worked faithfully as a Ward Secretary at Paulding Memorial Hospital for 28 years. She leaves to cherish her memory, Ms. Lois E. Weaver, Deacon and Mrs. Clifford S. Mitchell, Sr., Deacon and Mrs. Eddie H. Weddington, Jr. (Sheila), Deacon Henry C. Mitchell, Ms. Etta C. Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. David Morrison, Sr., (Teresa), Deacon and Mrs. Kevin E. Mitchell, Sr., Three sisters, Ms. Willie Bell Freeman, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny White (Geraldine), Ms. Joann Jones; three brothers, Mr. Narvie Jones, Sr. and the late Mr. Melvin Jones, one aunt, Ms. Annie M. Sawyer; 23 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services were held Thursday, June 2, 2005 at 1 p.m. from the Charity Missionary Church with Reverend Pastor Theodore A. Scott officiating. Interment followed in The Smith Temple Holiness Church in Hiram with her grandsons serving as pallbearers and granddaughters serving as flower ladies.
