PEARL "PEARLIE" (CRABB) VOYLES DIES FEBRUARY 28, 1974. Mrs. Pearl "Pearlie" (Crabb) Voyles passed away on Thursday, February 28, 1974. Mrs. Voyles was born on June 12, 1898, in Polk County, Georgia. She was a homemaker and mother. She had been ill for an extended period of time prior to her death and had resided for only 12 days previous in the Hiram Nursing Home, Hiram, Paulding County, Georgia. She had lived in the Hiram, Georgia community for the past 35 years of her life and had been a faithful member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church for the past 25 years. Mrs. Voyles was the daughter of the late William Burton "Toby" Crabb and the late Sarah Josephine "Josie" (Black) Crabb, both of Polk County, Georgia. The deceased is survived by: 1) her dauther, Mrs. Effie Laird, wife of Mr. James M. Laird, of Hiram, Georgia; 2) her dauther, Mrs. Ruby New, wife of Robert New, of Douglasville, Douglas, County, Georgia; 3) her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Shipp, wife of J. Romaine "J. R." Shipp, of Mableton, Georgia; 4) her son, Mr. H. B. Voyles of Birmingham, Alabama; 5) her son, Mr. T. E. Voyles, also of Birmingham; 6) her son, Mr. W. H. Voyles, of Dallas, Pualding County, Georgia; 7) her son, Mr. H. E. Voyles of Smyrna, Georgia; 8) her son, Mr. A. L. Voyles, of Powder Springs, Georgia; 9) her sister, Mrs. Myrtle (Crabb) Maddox, wife of William Thomas Maddox, of Rockmart, Polk County, Georgia; and 10) her sister, Mrs. Ethel Nina (Crabb) Kinsey, also of Hiram, Georgia. The deceased is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and newphews. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 1, 1974 for the deceased at the Popular Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Luther Bartlett and the Rev. Percy Byrns officiated at the services. The grandsons of the deceased served as her pallbearers at the services and grave side burial. Burial for Mrs. Voyles was at the Popular Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The Martin Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements for the deceased. Additional Comments: Mrs. Voyles was the grand dauther of the late William Darwin "Billy" Crabb and the late Sarah Frances (Peek) Crabb, both of Polk County, Georgia. William Darwin "Billy" Crabb was a CSA veteran. He was 4 Corp, Co G, 1 GA Inf Reg, CSA. Mrs Sarah Frances (Peek) Crabb was the dauther of the late Mr. and Mrs. William B. Peek.
