Aultman (3 March 1843 - 4 October 1910). Again I show a discrepancy in her date of birth. Census records indicate she was born March 1851, no other records from which to determine the correct date. She was the wife of R. "Crate" Aultman. In 1900 they were living in Byron, Houston Co., GA, had been married 20 years, 2 children born with none still living. This area of Houston County later became Peach County. Cheryl cacbjeb@msn.com Addie Howell Mattie Gates Aultman is my G.G. Aunt . I don't have any record of her birth , I do have her obituary saying she died Oct 4, 1910 at age 67. It also states that she never knew mother hood. They were married Dec 25,1879 in Marion Co, Florida. She was the daughter of James Gates and Lousia Martha Elizabeth Bazemore. I have no idea who put the stone on her grave. She had one sister & one brother living at the time of her death. I have a record of all of them. R.C. Aultman 19 February 1835 29 May 1912 notes:Cheryl cacbjeb@msn.com R. C. Aultman (19 Feb 1835 29 May 1912). This is Romulous Eucrates "Crate" Aultman and he was actually born in Feb. 1855 according to the 1860 - 1900 GA census records. Crate Aultman was the son of Joshua & Mary E. Schofield Aultman. Joshua Aultman was the youngest son of John Dawson & Caron Aultman, early settlers of Crawford County, GA. Mary E. Joyce Rape Harrison Recorded 1 April 1995 By Davine V. Campbell, Guelda L. Hay, & Millie C. Stewart NOTES: Smith Family and the Land where this Cemetery is located I have shown a direct relationship of all of these people to James Smith (1820-1896). James was the son of William Smith born in S. or N. Carolina WFT Est 1777-1792 died in Houston county 1848 and a Mary Jane? born 1784 in N. or S. Carolina. William was the son of John William Smith of Halifax,Virginia WFT Est 1748-1768 and died in Cochran's district of Columbia county, Georgia in 1815. He was the daughter of Elizabeth ? born in North Carolina WFT Est 1760-1770 died 1855 in Houston county,Ga. Elizabeth was a lucky winner in the land lot lottery of 1821 - 1821 and won lot # 62 in the land lot district of Houston county, Ga. Upon payment of the $19.00 required of all winners to cover cost of the lottery and the surveying of the land she claimed and took possession legally on Dec. 6th, 1822 of this 202 & 1/2 acre tract. William, her son bought land lot no. 64 on Dec. 22, 1825 and lot 63 on Jan. 4, 1831. After Williams death in 1848 his sons John W. and James Smith sold his properties consisting of lots 24,41,55,63,and 64 in the 10th district of Houston county and lot 17 of the 9th dist of Houston county. At the time of Elizabeths death in 1855, lot number 40 in the 5th district of Houston county became the home place of James Dixon Smith, Jr.(grandson of William). The Hartley cemetery is located in or on or near that tract and was called the Smith Family Cemetery. See obituary for Emma Justice Smith or Emma Head Smith I recently submitted to Peach county gen web from the Macon Telegraph. In the article it stated that Emma was buried in the Smith Family Cemetery the same cemetery that is now called the Hartley Cemetery. michael finocchio" ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
