EMMETT CULPEPPER DIES TUESDAY NIGHT Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Benevolence Baptist church in Crawford county, for Mrs. Emmett H. Culpepper, aged 79, formerly Miss Allie Thurmond, who died Tuesday night at 11 o'clock at her home on RFD 2, Fort Valley. Services were conducted by Rev. J. L. Reeves and the Rev. W. L. Roebuck. Interment followed in Oaklawn cemetery. Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. W. A. Ware of Fort Valley, and Mrs. J. L. Reeves, Phoenix City, Ala.; three sons, H. H. Culpepper of Fort Valley, A. D. Culpepper of Perry and E. L. Culpepper of Philidelphia [sic], Pa.; four brothers, Chas. Thurmond of Perry, George Thurmond, of Crest, Ga., Dr. T. D. Thurmond of Griffin and Frank Thurmond of Forsyth; four sisters, Mrs. E. L. Bryan of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. J. T. Means of Barnesville, Mrs. George Hall of Barnesville and Mrs. Vivian Johnson of Forsyth. A number of grand children also survive. Additional Comments: Almeda "Allie" Caroline Thurmond was born 8 May 1866 in Monroe Co., GA, the daughter of William Harrison Thurmond, Jr. and Amanda Jane (Buff) Thurmond. She married Emmett Huff Culpepper on 26 May 1892 in Monroe Co., GA. They are buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ft. Valley, GA.
