HANCOCK SHOT DEAD BY A YOUNG MAN. Fort Valley, Ga., June 8 --(Special)-- John c. Hancock, and old citizen of Crawford county, was shot and instantly killed yesterday afternoon in his field, about seven miles about Knoxville, by Rome Barnett, a nineteen-year- old, son of Jack Burnett. The older Burnett and Hancock were in a dispute about hogs, young Burnett being present. After a little he went to the house and returning with a double-barrel shot gun, fired at Hancock, killing him at once. This account is obtained from the mail carrier between this place and Knoxville. Burnett had not been arrested when the mail man left this morning, but the sheriff was in search of him.
