The Cherokee Advance  29 Jan 1886 P 2 January 29, 1886
Elias Pendley of Pickens county, it is said, was attacked by a wild cat during 
the snow, and a great tussle took place, and his arms and hands were badly 
bruised.  His dogs, not far off, heard the fight and ran to his assistance, or he 
would have been badly hurt.
