From the Ellijay, Ga., Courier. The death of Mr. Harry Gibson, in Pickens county, on Wednesday, the 28th ult., removes from this section another one of the original settlers from this region. He was quietly doing some light work in his yard when he suddenly dropped dead. He came to this country when the Indians roamed this wild region, and came up with the development of the country. He was a day laborer and helped to clear up most of the valley of Talking Rock from its original forest. He was honest, hard-working, and as fas as we know died without an enemy. He was a member of the Baptist church. He was interred in the family cemetery on the plantation of Mr. W. R. Coleman, where thirty-seven of the Gibsons lie covered under the sod. He had many grandchildren and great grand children, who have reached man and womanhood. He was 76 years old.
