Jasper, Ga., April 15- J. R. Howell, one of the oldest citizens of Jasper, died last night. He was 82 years of age. Mr. Howell was for along time the leading merchant of Jasper. He was instutmental in bringing to light the hidden marble beds of Pickens county. He was one of the first stonecutters of all this country. He was married twice. He is survived by his second wife and six children.
