Mrs. A. E. Simmons. Jasper, Ga., December 26- This morning at 3 o'clock the spirit of one of the best women of the country took its flight. Mrs. A. E. Simmons died after an illness of four months, which was very painful. She was the wife of Hon. William H. Simmons, who died three years ago. She was seventy-five years of age and spent an active life. She was endowed with the most remarkable power to retain everything that was useful which she read, and was, no doubt, the best posted in regard to matters in north Georgia. She was a member of the Methodist church for sixty years and had been married fifty-one years. She leaves six children: T. G. Simmons, of Ellijay; M. M. Simmons, of Jasper; W. A. Simmons, minister, of Lavonia; J. F Simmons, United States commissioner, of Jasper, and B. H. Simmons, merchant at Ellijay, and Mrs. O. F. Lenning. Additional Comments: William H. Simmons and Adeline E. Allen were married 26 December 1844 in Forsyth county, Ga.
