About four miles from Jasper last Thursday J. M. Watkins stepped in between a 
Mr. Mullinax and Mr. Ray, who were fighting, to stop them, when Mullinax stabbed 
Watkins in the arm.  The wound bled profusely, and Watkins only lived a short 
while.  The coroners jury returned a verdict of manslaughter. Mullinax gave 
himself up.
