He died in Polk Co. Ga Dec 19,1948.He was the son of William Joseph Smith (b 1852 Lumpkin Co Ga ) and Mary Gilstrap(b 1858 SC)Smith. William Smith was the son of Thomas Harrison (b 1826 SC who fought in the Civil War/ Cherokee Raiders) and Harriet Elizabeth Taylor (b 1832 SC)Smith of Lumpkin/Dawson Co Ga. Mary Gilstrap was the daughter of Charles Asberry Gilstrap (who died in the Civil War at Vicksburg) and Martha Jane Willson Gilstrap of Pickens Co SC to High Tower Forsyth Co before 1860. Grandmother: Victoria Silver/Silvers Smith b Pickens Co Ga. March 12, 1892. She died in DeKalb Co July 30, 1922. She was the daughter of Levi B."Bud" Silver and Jane Amanda Wilson Silver of Pickens Co Ga. Levi was the great grandson of the Revolutionary War soldier: George Silver Jr who fought under General George Washington and is buried at Kona, Mitchell Co NC. This is a historical site dedicated in his honor. Silver descendants all over the United States gather at his grave site every year for a reunion.Most of Levi's Ga.ancestors and siblings are buried at Ball Creek Baptist Cemetery in Pickens Co. Ga., including his grandfather John Silver (b 1785), older son of George Jr. Jame Amanda Wilson was the daughter of James R. Wilson and Lucinda Allen Wilson who migrated to Gilmer Co. Ga/ Coosawatee District from Yancey Co NC in 1874. Children on the photo are from left to right: Carl Thomas Smith, Saphrona Smith and baby Ralph Smith. My mother: Beatrice Smith and her sister Daisy Smith were born between 1920-22. Additional Comments: My grandmother and both of her sisters: Katie Silver Smith (married Oscar Bennett Smith in Pickens Co Ga) and Lucinda Jane Silver all died in 1922 in their thirties.
