Their parents, with six children, were on an outing on the river at the time and the younger children were in bathing. One of the bodies has been recovered. Additional Comments: Jewel Cercy was the sister of my grandfather Eleazer Anthony Cercy, jr. The family was on an outing celebrating the 25th birthday of James Monroe. Jewel's parents were Eleazer Anthony Cercy, sr. and Harriette Jane Smith. She and James are buried in the Sunset Cemetery in Quitman, Ga.
