TWO DROWNED WHILE PLAYING IN HIGH WATER

Valdosta, Ga, August 21-James Cercy, 25, and Jewell Cercy, 12, years old, were
drowned in Little river this afternoon when they stepped into deep water while
playing in the swollen stream.  Their parents, with six children, were on an
outing on the river at the time and the younger children were in bathing.  One
of the bodies has been recovered.

Additional Comments:
Jewel Cercy was the sister of my grandfather Eleazer Anthony Cercy, jr.  The
family was on an outing celebrating the 25th birthday of James Monroe.  Jewel's
parents were Eleazer Anthony Cercy, sr. and Harriette Jane Smith.  She and James
are buried in the Sunset Cemetery in Quitman, Ga.
