     BLACKSHEAR - Danny Burgsteiner, 22, died instantly late yesterday afternoon
near Sparta from injuries sustained in a head on collision.
     A microbiology major at the University of Georgia, he was on his way back
to school when the accident occurred.
     A native of Pierce County, he was a 1970 graduate of Blackshear High
School.  While in high school, he was an outstanding athlete and was active in
all phases of school and YMCA activities.  He was a member of the Midnight Sons
Band and was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.  He was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Blackshear.
     He was the brother of the late Johnny Burgsteiner, who was midget football
coach for several years in Blackshear.
     Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Burgsteiner, Blackshear
and a number of other relatives.
     Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the First United
Methodist Church.  Officiating will be the Rev. Eugene Barlow and the Rev. John
Temoshchuk.  Burial will be in Blackshear Cemetery.
     The body will remain at the funeral home and will lie in state at the
church one hour prior to the funeral.
     Clough-Pearson Funeral Home is in charge.
