The Blackshear Times 08/03/1983
   Mrs. Annie Merle Altman Head, 61, died Monday morning (08/01/1983) in
Memorial Hospital in Waycross following a long illness.  A native and life-long
resident of Pierce County, she was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and
was a daughter of the late J. Richard Altman and Nancy Jane Clark Altman.
  Survivors are her husband, Eugene Head of Blackshear; a daughter, Mrs. Sheila
Aline Lovett of Millen; three sons, Lawton E. Head and Eddie R. Head, both of
Blackshear, and Daniel R. Head of Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Corine
Ricks of Blackshear and Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson of Claxton; a brother,
W.W.Altman of Savannah.  There are 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and
several other relatives. 
  Services for Mrs. Head were held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the chapel of
Clough-Pearson Funeral Home.  Officiating were Rev. Joe Thigpen and Rev. Luther
Peacock.  Interment was in the Shiloh Cemetery.
