Elder Fowler was a retired farmer and elder of the Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Brantley County. Besides Mrs.Johnson, he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs.Evie Sykes, Folkston, and Mrs.Vera Howell, Waycross; four sons, W.A.Fowler,Sr., Alma, H.D.Fowler, Blackshear, James C.Fowler, Warner Robins, and E.G.Fowler, Waycross; two brothers, M.L.Fowler, Gainsville,FL, and Cleve Fowler, Tampa,FL; three sisters, Mrs.Ophelia Nelson and Mrs.Alice Davis, both of Jacksonville, and Mrs.Sue Lamphy, Waycross; 31 grand-children and 30 great grand-children. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 at Ben James Church in Pierce County with burial in the church cemetery. The body will remain in the Chapel of Hinson-Miles Funeral Home until six o'clock this afternoon when it will be taken to the residence of Mrs.Johnson where it will lie in state until time for the funeral. Additional Comments: Elder Fowler's middle name is Hartford not Hartwell. His obituary and death certificate incorrectly has his name as Hartwell. Elder Fowler's personal family bible, in his own handwriting, has Hartford as his middle name. Elder Fowler also has several descendents named after him with Hartford being their name. A family sketch of Elder Fowler's family was published in the June 2003 issue of the Huxford Genealogical Society,Inc.Magazine and includes a photo of the family. The sketch also incorrectly has his middle name as Hartwell. Elder Fowler moved his family from Alachua Co.,FL to a farm in the Hacklebarney Community of Pierce Co. in the 1920's.
