He was born in Alachua County, Florida, and had made his home in Pierce County most of his life. He was the son of the late George H.Fowler and the late Ethel Mae Simmons Fowler. He was a veteran of World War II, and attended Ben James Primitive Baptist Church. He was a salesman for Nimmer Chevrolet Company for a number of years. Survivors are his wife, Mrs.Mable Altman Fowler of Blackshear, two daughters, Mrs.Bruce Robson of Blackshear and Mrs.Hewshal Thornton of Selma, Alabama; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs.J.W.Johnson and Mrs.Alton Howell of Waycross, Mrs.D.E.Sikes of Folkston; three brothers, W.A.Fowler,Sr. of Alma, J.A.Fowler of Warner Robins, E.G.Fowler of Waycross; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev.James Young officiating. Burial was in Ben James Cemetery. Active pallbearers were, J.C.Wilds, Daniel Taylor, Loyd Walker, E.P.Smiley, Dorsey Knowlton, and William Wall. Honorary pallbearers were C.C.Carter, Alton Weathers, Steve Nimmer, Mack Carter and Baxter Bennett. Darling Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.
