Blasingame has been in Abbeville for several days past where he has gone to attend a reunion of his brothers at the home of B.F. Blasingame. There are five of the brothers, Mr. David A Blasingame of Malino, Texas, Jon. W., of Culloden, James P., [of] Musella, B.F. of Abbeville, and T.J. of Zebulon, all five of whom were to meet at Abbeville for a good old-time reunion. Mr. David A. Blasingame left her soon after the War and settled in Texas, this being his first visit to see his brothers in thirty years. All five of the brothers served together in the confederate army and only one, T.J., was wounded, having received the wound which caused the loss of his arm. He is the youngest of the five being 65 and David A. the eldest being 77. (Transcribed by Lynn Ballard Cunningham 9/7/02) * 1880 Census - Zebulon, Pike Co., GA; pg. 140A T. J. Blasingame * "The Pike County Journal" Zebulon, Pike Co., GA Friday, August 3, 1894 An Old Landmark Gone Mr. Wyatt Blasingame of Upson County died at his home last Friday. He was the father of our efficient clerk, Judge T.J. Blasingame. The remains were interred at Shiloh church cemetery on Saturday. Mr. Blasingame was born in South Carolina May 16, 1806, and moved to Jones county, Ga., in 1822, and from there to Upson county where has lived for 40 years and reared a large family of children, eight of whom are living now - the youngest being 52 years of age. He was a deacon in the Primitive Baptist church for years and was regarded by those who knew him as a model Christian gentleman. It was rather a strange coincidence that Mrs. Blasingame, the wife of the deceased should have been buried on July 25, 1874, and Mr. Blasingame placed beside her on July 25, 1894 - exactly 20 years afterwards. The country misses such men, but no one can doubt that they are immeasurably benefited by the great reward promised to the faithful.
