Service took place at the Flat Rock Meeting house. On May 19th 1827 the Church agreed to select a place for building a meeting house wherefore Brothers Singleton, Bell, Hartsfield, Neal and Gross were appointed for the purpose of selecting a suitable place. On June 15th 1827 they reported they had selected a place on Martin Sims land. The orginal gift deed (Deed Re: Book E PAge 331) dated September 1827 where Martin Sims donates 2 acres of his property, lot 170 in District one of Pike County to "the Church at Flat Rock". He specifically states that it is for the purpose of building a "meeting house" and not a "grave yard". This deed was drawn up and given to the deacons Gross and Prior in September 1827 but was not officially filed until November 1838. The deed immediately following (Deed Ref: Book E Page 332) is the deed where Roland Jackson donates land from his lot which is adjacent to the Martin Sims lot. The church at this time is named as Shoal Creek Church.
