By the Court of Ordinary of said County

To J.P. Harris Greeting whereas Susan Francis Henry C and W T Harris minors of
Benjamin E Harris deceased are passed in their own right of a considerable
estate by means whereof the power of Granting the Guardianship of the said Susan
Francis Henry C and William T Harris to me is known manifestly to belong; And
for the better securing the said estate and more amble maintenance and education
of the said minors; and from the integrity and confidence reposed in you I do
hereby Commit the tuition education and Guardianship of the said Minors to you
the said James P Harris You assenting thereto by your acceptance of these
letters: herein charging you that you maintain and Cause to be educated Said
minors in such manner as shall be suitable to their interest and circumstances
during their minority that You inquire into and take charge of their Estate both
real and personal and all other things to do which by law you ought to do for
you said ward of all which a true and proper account you shall render to the
first term of the court of ordinary for said county in every year during your
Continuance in office and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint you the said
J P Harris Guardian of the aforesaid Susan Frances Henry C & W T Harris during
their Minority.
Witness my hand and seal of office this 13th day of January Eighteen Hundred &
Sixty Two.

James Pyron Harris was the oldest brother of Susan Frances, Henry Clay, and
William Taylor Harris.  They were all children of Benjamin E. Harris and Susan
Pyron of Pike County.
