Mangham Arthur T. Camp & Matthew Orr Judges Whereas Samuel Atkinson of said county has petitioned said Court of Ordinary for an order to cause the administrators of William W. Martin deceased to make title to a certain tract of land know & distinguished by No. 155 /one hundred fifty five in the second district of originally Monroe now Pike County & whereas said petition has been published in terms of the Law. It is therefore ordered by the court that James McMickel, William McMickel and Mariah Martin admr & admix of the estate of said William W. Martin dec’d do & they are hereby required to make fee simple titles for said tract of land to said Samuel Atkinson. Ordered that Letters of Administration be granted to Sarah Porter on the Estate of Jediah Porter late of Faytte [sp] County deceased wherefrom she gave John Isom for security in a bond of two hundred dollars, when she was qualified in terms of the Law. Ordered that William J. Ellis admr on the estate of Samuel M. Sneed be allowed (tete the next term (or first Monday in September next) to make a fair sharing of his management of said estate & such other proceeding will be had as the Law directs & It is further ordered that the clerk do subpoena Andrew Hartsfield [?] Pumele Edward McElroy & Burrell Orr to [ _ ] at that time in order to sustain the charges that had been proffered against said Ellis as admr [ _ ] mismanagement The court then adjourned till court in course John C Mangham Chairman PAGE 2 Court of Ordinary September Term 1829 Court met pursuant to Adjournment 7th September 1829 Present their Honors Lewis Daniel A. F. Camp & Matthew Orr Ordered that Letters of administration be granted to Elizabeth Gray & Seaborn B. Gray on the estate of James R. Gray late of said County dec’d. on their giving security in a bond of twenty thousand dollars - whereupon they gave James Robert Bull[?] & Samuel Mitchell for security & were qualified in terms of the Law & received Letters of Administration in the provided. ========= Ordered that Josiah E. Nunnelly Guardian for orphan children of John S. Weems late of Henry County deceased be & he is hereby authorized to sell the real & personal estate of said deceased for the benefit of the creditors & heirs of said deceased. ========== Ordered that Jonas Shivers Guardian of Eliza Tucker orphan of John Tucker late of Oglethorpe County deceased - be & he is hereby authorized to sell any real estate of said deceased for the benefit of said orphan. Ordered that Clary [?] Hambrick administrator of the estate of James Hambrick late of Jasper County deceased, be & she is hereby authorized to sell the real estate of said deceased for the benefit of the creditors & heirs of said deceased. PAGE 3 Court of Ordinary Sep Term 1829 Ordered that William J. Ellis administrator in the estate of S. M. Snead deceased be allowed till next term to make his showing of his management of said estate. Ordered that James Hogan an illegitimate child of Delila Hogan deceased be bound unto Hiram Gill - on his giving bond in five hundred dollars whereupon he gave Irby Stamper for security. Ordered that H. G. Johnson Guardian of his minor [ _ ] C. A. H. Johnson be & he is hereby authorized to sell the real estate of said minor - sold for the benefit of said minor Arthur T. Camp security of Jesse [?] B. Reeves Guardian of the orphan children of John G. Towns late of Jasper County deceased prays to be released from his securityship - whereupon it is ordered by said Court that said Arthur T. Camp be released on said Reeves giving other security where Jonathan Reeves became his security in a bond of four thousand dollars The Court then adjourned till court course 7th September 1829 Lewis Daniel JJC [?] & chairman PAGE 4 Court of Ordinary November Term 1829 Present their Honors John C. Mangham James [ _ ] Lewis Daniel Ordered that Smallwood P. Allison be & he is hereby appointed Guardian of the person & property of John H. Allison a minor & son of James Allison of Talbot County & said State - on his giving bond & security in the sum of two hundred dollars. Whereupon he gave James Roddin for security was qualified in terms of the Law and received Letters of Guardianship in the premises Ordered that Joshua Miles be & he is hereby appointed guardian of Jordan Hale orphan of John Hale late of Warren County deceased, on his giving bond & security in the sum of two hundred dollars whereupon the said Miles executed the bond as directed by the court & was duly qualified & received Letters of Guardianship in the premises It appearing to the court upon the showing of Thomas Hardeman Admr of Josephus Love dec’d that due and legal notice has been given to the Legatees of said estate that he should make application to this court for leave to sell the Negroes of said estate, and it also appearing to this court upon the showing of the Admr that it is necessary the Negroes should be sold & no objection having been filed. It is therefore ordered that the admr Have leave to sell all the Negroes belonging to the estate of Josephus Love dec’d It appearing to the court the showing of John Smith & W. V. White executors of the estate of Mosey Smith deceased that it is necessary to sell the perishable property of said estate PAGE 5 It is therefore ordered William V. White & John Smith executors of said estate have leave to sell all the perishable property of said estate. Majors Harris one of the Admrs of Arthur Finney dec’d presented an exemplification of the records from the court of Ordinary of Jones County of the proceedings had in that court relative to said Administration of praying that the same may be received & entered upon the records of this court & that he may be allowed to make his returns in premises to this court. Whereupon the court after examining the said exemplification & certificate, Ordered that the same be received & entered of record & that the said Admr be remitted in future to make returns on said estate to his court, he having executed a bond to this court in terms of the Law, in the sum of four thousand dollars for the faithful administration of said estate, with Simon Slade & William F. Williams his security approved by the court. Then Court then adjourned till the first Monday in December next John C. Beckham & Charles McDowell Esqrs they be & are appointed distributees for the distribution of the personal estate together with the unsold part of the perishable property of Jonathan Phillips late of Said County deceased Forwarded ========== Ordered that Thomas G. Shehee, William F. Williams, Wyatt T. Heard, John Mays & Wiley Silman they be and are appointed distributees for the distribution of the personal estate of Arthur Finney late of Jones County deceased Forwarded ========== Ordered that Letters of Administration be granted to Willis J. Milner on the estate of John Johnson late of said county deceased on their giving bond with approved security in the sum of three thousand dollars - whereupon the said Willis J. Milner, with James Ledbetter executed the bond directed [?] by the court, was qualified in terms of the Law & warrant of Appraisement was issued to James Ledbetter, James Whatley, [ _ ] Brown, Jonas [ _ ] & Jno. Mays Esqrs ========== Ordered that J. Augustus T. Phillips be & he is hereby appointed Guardian of the person & property of Barsheba Phillips orphan of Jonathan Phillips on his giving Bond with approved security in the sum of twenty five hundred dollars whereupon said J. A. T. Phillips, P. Clopton [?] and Wm. V. White executed the bond directed by the PAGE 7 Court was qualified & received letters of Guardianship in the premises ========== Ordered that Elizabeth Phillips be & she is hereby appointed Guardian of the persons & property of John Clark & Rebecca Phillips orphans of Jonathan Phillips deceased on her giving bond & security in the sum of five thousand dollars - whereupon the said Elizabeth Phillips with P.P.C. Clopton[?] & James [ _ ] Phillips executed the bond directed by the court, was qualified in terms of the Law & received Letters of Guardianship in the premises ========== Jas. M. Mickle Wm. M. Mickle & Mariah Martin Admrs & Admix & James Daniel & [ _ ] R. Ballard security on Bond In the Court of Ordinary Pike County Of the estate of William W. Martin deceased It appearing to the Court that the administrators have not given sufficient security to their bonds & that said bond is wholly insufficient. It is therefore ordered that the administrators appear at the next court of Ordinary to be held in & for said county on the first Monday in January next, to show cause why said administrators should not be [ _ ] or give other & further security, or show cause to the contrary & that a copy of this rule be served on said administrators twenty days before next term of said Court PAGE 8 Adjourned Court of Ordinary 7th Dec. 1829 ========== William Reeves the natural guardian of William Reeves, Richard W. Reeves & Serena Reeves infants & grand children of Mary Kingson late of [blank] County deceased Caveat the probate of the last will & testament of said deceased viz 1st that the testatrix was not of sound mind & memory at the making of said will 2nd that the testament was not subscribed by the subscribing witnesses in the presence of the testatrix The court adjourned tile court in cause Jno.
