State of Georgia, Monroe County

This indenture made the twenty-eighth day of December in the year of Our Lord 
One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Eight between Susan B. Jordan, Laura 
Beckham, Lucy Smith, Augusta Hill, Rennie Ham and W. R. Jordan of the State of 
Georgia of the first part and Dean B. Howard of the County of Bibb and State of 
Georgia of the second part: witnesseth that the parties of the first part for 
and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars in hand paid 
at and before the selling and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof 
is hereby acknowledged to have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and 
confirmed. And by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, deliver, convey and 
confirm unto the said party of the second part, her heirs and assigns all the 
following described property, to wit: Thirty two acres more or less, it being a 
part of the old home place of Dr. L. H. Jordan in the District of said County 
of Monroe and bounded as follows: On the North by the lands of S. B. Jordan and 
W. R. Jordan, East by the lands of S. S. Tyler, South by the lands of J. T. 
Redding and Mrs. J. B. Fuller; and West by the lands of Lucy Smith. Said lands 
being the distributive share of said Dean B. Howard in her father’s land as 
assigned to her by John W. Evans, E. B. Taylor, and Jab E. Taylor acting by 
agreement as partitioners and in their report described as follows: “Lot No. 2 
was drawn for Dean B. Howard with the following metes and bounds: from the road 
near the house on the original line due south to the corner of lot of land, 
thence west on Fullers line twelve chains, thence north to stop on Pope’s Ferry 
Road, thence with said road to starting point, containing thirty-two acres more 
or less.”

To have and to hold the said above granted and described property with all and 
singular ties, rights … and appurtenances hereunto appertaining to its duly 
proper use, benefit and (beliefs?) of the said party of the second part her 
heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the said parties of the 
first part, their heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns and against all 
and every other person or persons, shall and will and does hereby warrant and 
forever defend by virtue of these presents.

In witness whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their 
hands and affixed their seals and delivered these presents the day and year 
first above written.

Additional Comments:
Susan B. Jordan is the widow of Dr. Lorenzo H. Jordan. Dean B. Howard (Dean 
Jordan) is one of the Jordan children. This is Dean's portion of the estate of 
her dad (Dr. Jordan) as given to her by Susan B. Jordan (Dean's mom) and all of 
the other children of Dr. Lorenzo and Susan B. Jordan:  Augusta Jordan Hill, 
Rennie Jordan Ham, Laura Jordan Beckham, Lucie Jordan Smith, and Willis R. 
Jordan.
