Whatley, Samuel J. Whatley. The former named of Jones County, the second of Harris and Samuel Whatley of Pike. Also James C. Whatley in right of his wife, Susan Jane Whatley and Susan Jane Whatley in her own right of Upson County and William H. Whatley of Pike of the first part and William Whatley of Jones County of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two thousand and forty-two dollars to him in hand paid this receipt of which is hereby acknowledged. We have granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and do by these presents grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto said William Whatley, his heirs and assigns a certain tract of land lying and being in the state of Georgia and counties as follows: one tract or parcel of fifty-three acres in the district of Monroe County, number 80; another piece containing three and three eighths acre in first district of Monroe County number 81; fifty-six and a half acres in first district of Monroe number 49; two hundred and one acres in fifth district of Houston number 275; ninety acres in seventeenth district of Muscogee, number 32; two hundred two and a half acres in the 9th district of Monroe, number 4; and four hundred and ninety acres in the 6th district of Appling County, number 74. All of the above tracts of land containing more or less acres. To have and to hold all of the above named tracts or parcels of land and premises with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said William Whatley, his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple and we the said Wilson Whatley, Seaborn J. Whatley, Samuel J. Whatley, and James C. Whatley in right of his wife, Susan Jane Whatley and Susan Jane Whatley and William H. Whatley for ourselves, our heirs and assigns do warrant and defend said lands against the lawful claim or claims of ourselves or our heirs and of any and of all other persons forever in fee simple.
