Book Title: 

I recently came into contact with a gentleman who is the current caretake of 
the family bible that belonged to Emily Ingram (Sturdivant) Pennington (1837-
1916). Emily appears to have spent most her life in Pike Co., Ga.

Emily was the daughter of Daniel W. Sturdivant (1797-1870) & Sarah Felps/Phelps 
(b. ? - d. 1884). They were married 8 Nov. 1827.

In the bible was part of an old letter that appears to have been written by the 
brother of Sarah (Felps) Sturdivant.

The first page -or- pages of the letter are missing. This is a transcript of 
what remains. I hope it fills in the blanks for someone -- please let me know 
if it does. I have lots more on the Pennington family that Emily married into.

"Avington was born August 15, 1822. Madison was born October 17, 1823. Then 
last 3. Then son of Catharine was born July 4, 1827. Then Marthy Ann Elyzabeth 
was born December 20, 1829. Then Reuben was born March 22, 1832. Then William 
was born June 13, 1834. Avington was born February 21, 1837 and died September 
18, 1838.

Then Mary Amandy was born March 6, 1839. Augustus was born July 24 (26, 2?)? 
1841. Frances Marion was born January 3, 1844. Once died December 13, 1845.

Madison was married December 21, 1843 and his wife died in 1847. They had two 
children but both died (Madison M. Felps m. Elizabeth Jane Culwell 20 Dec 1843 
in Crawford Co., GA - vjf)

Marthy married March 11, 1849 to Tomas Taylor (Martha E. Phelps m. Thomas T. 
Taylor on that date in Upson Co. - vjf). Reuben is now living in Houston County.

William D. Phelps and Sarah Chatfield were married May 9, 1847 and she has no 
children. (Married on that date in Crawford Co., GA - vjf)

Now I want you to come and see us all if you can. I want you to write back to 
me every opportunity there is. Nothing more at present on this list but for you 
to remember your brother and sister and children until deth shall end your 
life. May the blessings of God be with you and yours untill deth.
