John B. Gordon and a Love Feast of Anecotes and War Experience. Yesterday was a gala day in Thomaston. The War Veterans were in their glory, and Thomaston was happy, notwithstanding the cause for which these veterans fought was lost. By arrangement, the Upson County Veterans Association entertained a reunion of the 5th and 13th Georgia Regiments, and all the war veteran's of other commands of other commands present yesterday. Several veterans came in Tuesday, but the bulk of them came in yesterday. Several veterans of the war of 1836 were present, and Capt. W.H. Brown was the only representative of the Mexican war present. At twelve o'clock, the Upson County Veterans Association under command of Captain W.H. Brown, and the Upson Guards under command of Capt. M.H. Sandwich formed and marched to the depot to receive visiting soldiers. The members of the 5th Georgia were formed by Mr. A.J. King, and those of the 13th Georgia by Mr. F.J. Reeves. The whole command was then formed into procession by Marshall of the day, Capt. J.T. Lewis, in the following order: Band, Upson County Guards, 5th Georgia Regiment, 13th Georgia Regiment, and Upson County Veteran's Association. The procession then marched to the courthouse, where the meeting was called to order by Judge T.S. Sharman, President of the Upson County Veteran's Association. Rev B.E.L. Timmons offered prayer, and Mayor B.D. Hardaway delivered an appropriate address of welcome. This was responded to by representatives of the two regiments. Hon J.D. Stewart made a happy response. Dinner was then announced and all participated in one of the best barbeques imaginable. In the afternoon the two regiments met in the college building and transacted their regular business, elected officers for the ensuing year &c. At night the veterans met again and listened to a stirring address by Gen. John B. Gordon. Then a sort of love fest was held, in which was given anecdotes and war experiences. First Sergt. J.T.G.
