Turner last Friday night about 8 o’clock on the public road between Hollonville and Williamson near the Anderson store. Bethune lives with Mr. Quick about a mile from Hollonville but Turner’s home was in Atlanta. Bethune says that he, in company with Henry Irvin, was taking Turner to Griffin from which place Turner was to go to Atlanta. He says Turner was drinking and assaulted him with a knife and that he shot him in self defense. He and Irvin carried Turner to the hospital in Griffin and then Bethune came to Zebulon and surrendered to Sheriff D.S. Allen. Bethune is married and has one child. He is 31 years of age.
