The Pike County Journal August 5, 1927

A pleasant occasion in Concord, Monday, July 25th was a birthday dinner held 
at the home of Granny Carreker’s.

The ones present consisted of her children and grandchildren met with her to 
celebrate her 79th birthday, We all enjoyed the beautiful dinner brought there 
by the children.

Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J.Y. Bottoms and family; Mr. and Mrs. E.J. 
Carreker and family; Mrs. Jim Connell and family and Miss Eliza Carreker, all 
of Concord, and Mr. and Mrs. G.J. Carreker and family of Yatesville. Those 
outside of the family were Mrs. Emma Crawford, Mrs. Rob Crawford and Miss 
Adrinne Williams.

It was a joy to look upon Granny’s smiling face and see her greet her twenty 
grandchildren. We all enjoyed the day and after expressing our thanks and 
appreciation to the family bade them all goodbye, wishing Granny many more 
happy birthdays and trusting that we may have the pleasure of meeting with her 
again.
