(Buck) Corley, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Corley, of Zebulon, has entered the Army Air Forces Pre-Flight School (Navigator), Monroe, La. Trained navigators are graduating by hundreds now and soon will be finishing in thousands at the Navigator School. Navigators guiding bombers to smash the Jap fleet at Midway, showed General Doolittle the best route to Tokyo and guided our flying fortresses to vital spots in the Solomon Islands. Without them, bombers would be speeding masses of destruction rushing aimlessly through the sky. The navigators gets'em therm and gets'em back, through weather, rain, hail, and fog. Cadet Corley attended Zebulon high school, and was in business here before joining the armed forces. Additional Comments: James Elwood Corley was a son of John Allen Corley and Minnie Ophelia Barrett. He was born 1 Feb 1916 and died 3 Sept 1943 in Italy (WWII). He was buried at Zebulon Methodist Church Cemetery, Pike County, Georgia.
