This singing has been held each year for the past forty or forty-five years. There are usually several thousand people here as everybody who ever lived in this community wants to come back for the singing. There is always a large delegation from Atlanta and other large towns in Georgia. This singing is held under the auspices of Class No. 1 of the New East Singing Convention. G.T. McDowell is president and Ed Caldwell is secretary of the convention. Will Stanley is the leader of Class No. 1 and Laura Evans is secretary.
