The Pike County Journal May 1, 1925

The colored folks will have their annual singing at the colored Methodist 
church in Zebulon next Sunday. This singing has been held each year for the 
past forty or forty-five years. There are usually several thousand people here 
as everybody who ever lived in this community wants to come back for the 
singing. There is always a large delegation from Atlanta and other large towns 
in Georgia. 

This singing is held under the auspices of Class No. 1 of the New East Singing 
Convention. G.T. McDowell is president and Ed Caldwell is secretary of the 
convention. Will Stanley is the leader of Class No. 1 and Laura Evans is 
secretary.
