Crawley was shot and killed by W.D. Carden, marshall of the town of Milner, Monday evening while the latter was trying to arrest Crawley. It was said that Crawley was drinking and had fired his pistol in the town several times and the marshall approached him to arrest him and he shot again, Crawley then drawing his pistol fired one shot at Crawley, the ball taking effect in his heart producing instant death. Both parties are of prominent families and each have many friends who regret the affair. Carden being at about 50 years of age and has a family, Crawley being an unmarried man about 23 years old.
