February 15, 1907 Messrs J.W. Milner and W.M. Hartley went to Atlanta Wednesday night to have the head of a calf examined. A few days ago a mad dog went by the county farm and bit a calf which Superintendent Milner knew of. As soon as he learned that the dog had passed along, he had his dogs and a calf killed. This was several days ago. On Wednesday another calf became peculiarly sick and Mr. Milner drenched it. Immediately after he had drenched it, the calf died suddenly. While drenching it, some saliva from its mouth got on a bruised place on Mr. Milner’s hand. The sudden death of it caused him alarm and he cut off its head and carried it to Atlanta for examination. They have not yet returned. It is sincerely hoped that the calf did not die of the dread hydrophobia as it would be just cause for alarm to Mr. Milner.
