Barnesville, Georgia, Thursday, April 3d, 1890 Col. J.O. Waddell, of Atlanta, received a notice Sunday from the Marietta marble works, stating that the head-stones for the confederate soldier's graves on Johnston's Island, were ready and were awaiting his orders to be shipped. Col. Waddell wrote by the return mail directing that the head-stones be sent immediately to Sandusky, O. He also wrote to T.J. Mack, of the Sandusky Register, notifying him of the shipment, and requesting him to see that they were placed in position. The members of the committee who have had charge of the soldiers' graves at Johnston's Island have been tireless in their endeavors to get the stones in position. All the expenses have been paid except $40, which sum is now in Col. Waddell's hands ready for a draft from the Marietta Marble works, when ever they draw on him. A further sum of $125 is, however, needed to pay for the transportation and setting of the head stones.
