L. Smith and Bro. E.P. Barrow, all having departed this life within the last twelve months. Sister Nancy J Smith joined with us, by letter, Oct 31, 1885, just a few years after New Hope church was constituted. She was an active, consecrated member, seldom ever missed a conference until her health failed. She was faithful in Sunday School work and during revivals has often lead in the ladies prayer services. Her home life was replete with love, patience and good cheer. She was, indeed, a faithful wife, a devoted and affectionate mother and a sincere lover of the Lord. After a lingering illness she passed to rest July 31st, 1910, at the age of 64 and was buried at New Hope, Bro. L. Hooten conducted funeral services. Sister Mary J. Harris was a member of New Hope church for quite a good many years. Having moved to Griffin it was not her privilege to attend her meetings often. She lived a true Christian life, beloved by all who knew her. She died in full recognition of the will of Him who doeth all things well, Sept. 24, 1910. She rests beside those of her children who preceded her in the cemetery at New Hope. Sister R. L. Smith died April 13th, 1911, was born July 20th, 1830. She was baptized at Bethel church by Bro. Jack Buffington in 1860. In 1882 she helped constitute New Hope church and remained with this church th ebalance of her life, a consecrated, beloved member. Losing her husband during the Civil War, she was left a family to bring up. Though the burden was heavy she bore it with a Christian fortitude and resignation. Her experience of grace beautiful and her faith never faltered but grew broader and fuller as the years passed over her. Truly a "Mother in Isreal" has fallen but her works follow her and many will rise up and call her blessed. Bro. J. Q. Buffington conducted the funeral services and she rests in New Hope cemetery. Bro. E.P. Barrow was baptized into New Hope church in August 1887. In Nov. 1897 he was ordained a deacon and was an active member in that capacity until his death, April 14th, 1911. He was buried in the family cemetery at his home place. Bro. J.Q. Buffington preaching his funeral to a large audience. Bro. Barrow was a man who loved God and was honest and sincere in his convictions of duty and right. The blessed hope which sustained his life supported him in his last moments and he passed to his rest with full confidence in God. A man of public affairs he was widely known and enjoyed the full confidence of the people. Our church and community have suffered a great loss in his death. Even so in the passing away of our sisters in Christ. We shall miss them in our community and especially in our church and her works. Their experiences of grace, their home life and their following in His foot- steps are an inspiration to us and we praise God for their lives and influences: Therefore, be it resolved: 1st. That in death of our sisters and brother, our church has lost four faithful members. 2nd. That we humbly submit to the will of our Heavenly Father, believing that our sisters and brother have gone to receive their reward. 3rd. That we extend our sympathies to their bereaved families and that these resolution be recorded on the minutes of the church and a copy be sent the Christian Index and the Pike County Journal and that a copy be furnished the family of each of the deceased. Zebulon, Ga., June 3rd, 1911. Mrs. D. Brown, Mrs. H.C. Harris, D. Brown, H.C. Harris, L.M. Brown, Committee.
