Fifteen years ago he met for the first time his sister, Mrs. Reeves, who resides at Cook’s Spring Ala., from whom he had been separated since 1851. Mr. Wheelon and his two sisters were orphans and were born in a small hamlet in Georgia. When he was six years old he was taken away from home to be cared for by relatives and friends. His sisters were also taken in charge by other friends. Mr. Wheelon went to the war when but a boy and fought under the Confederate flag. At the close of the war all traces of his sisters were lost. He visited his old home-stead in hopes of finding them, but since their last meeting under the parental roof where their childish thoughts and songs had so often mingled in unison nothing was left to mark ths spot of their birth place, save a large oak at whose roots the trio had so often played. Thirty seven years had elapsed since they had parted. As if it were by chance, Mr. Wheelon met a gentleman in Alabama with whom he was acquainted in youth, making inquiry if he knew any thing of his sisters, the gentleman replied that Mr. Wheelon’s youngest sister was there living at Cook’s Spring. The joy of their meeting can be best imagined than described. Mr. Reeves told her brother that Mrs. Thornton, their other sister, was still living and her home was in Pike county, Ga. A reunion was soon arranged and held at Cook’s Spring, at which the ties of affection were again renewed.
