Captain W.M. Ennis was pleasantly surprised last Sunday by a visit from his 
son, John T. Ennis, and wife, their son, Dan, wife and baby, Dan, Jr., their 
son Irvin, their daughter, Margaret and her husband, Mr. J.K. Fancher of New 
York City, and Mrs. S.A. Winters, mother of Mrs. J.T. Ennis. All motored down 
from Atlanta Sunday morning.

Monday afternoon a number of invited friends enjoyed a delicious barbeque, 
prepared by Mr. Ben Barksdale. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hickman contributed largely to 
the success of the feast. Mr. C.W. Ennis, another son of Captain Ennis, with 
his wife and son, Carlos, arrived from Memphis, Tenn., in time to complete the 
family circle. The old Ennis farm afforded the visitors plenty of recreation 
while the Captain was at his best in entertainment. Mrs. M.F. Ennis, “Aunt 
Fannie,” was loaded with compliments for her cooking, which disappeared like 
magic, to her great delight. The Atlanta and Memphis visitors surely proved the 
truth that “The proof of the cooking is in the eating.”

Nothing could mar the happiness of this family reunion, which will live long in 
the memories of all present as a great landmark in their lives.

Captain Ennis had another agreeable surprise during Monday, when Mr. Jodie 
Barksdale and brothers, with four plows, drove into and worked out his “corn 
patch.”
