J. M. STRICKLAND DIVIDES TIME WITH RUSSELL SPEAKER--SMITH CLUB FORMED. WILLIAMSON, Ga., Aug. 18 -- On last Monday Judge R. B. Russell spoke to a crowd of about 150 voters at Williamson, Pike County, while yesterday the Hon. Hoke Smith supports mustered twice that number at a rally for their candidate. A delightful community barbecue was served and several speakers engaged. None came except Hon. J. M. Strickland, of Griffin. Several hundred voters greeted him and for more than an hour he held their intense interest, and at the conclusion of his address he polled the crowd and nearly to a man they stood and pledged themselves to Hoke Smith. After this, as is the custom of the Russell followers, they insisted on one of their speakers being allowed to speak, and it was arranged for Hon. J. J. Flynt to speak for thirty minutes for Judge Russell, and he was to be followed by T. E. Patterson, a Hoke Smith supporter for thirty minutes. When Mr. Flynt's thirty minutes was out he did not wish to stop, and announced that he would continue in the road, and went out into the road and got into a buggy. He was followed by 20 or 25 men, a few boys and 20 or 25 negroes who were in the crowd. This caused so much commotion that the voters paid no attention to any further speakers, and the meeting was broke up. HOKE SMITH CLUB. A strong Hoke Smith club was formed, as follows:  We, the undersigned white voters of Pike county, favor the nomination of Hon. Hoke Smith for the office of governor of the state of Georgia, and hereby pledge ourselves to give him our support and to use all honorable means to secure his nomination. J. F. Nipper J. H.
