Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia Capt. Frank F. Crenshaw, of the Twenty-eight United States Infantry is coming home on a visit to his father, Hon Thomas C. Crenshaw, a member of the railroad commission. He is on sick leave and will return to his regiment as soon as he entirely recovers his health. Capt. Crenshaw reached San Francisco a few days ago and as soon as he feels strong enough to continue his trip will start for Georgia. Capt. Crenshaw, it will be remembered, was hit by a Filipino bullet in the top of his head early in June last, when he and several of his command were ambushed near Toal. The party was led into an ambush by a native scout. The Americans put up a quick fight and all of them escaped alive but two were wounded, Capt. Crenshaw and one of his men. (Transcribed 09/30/03 Lynn Cunningham) Additional Comments: The war in the Philippines began on February 4, 1899, and lasted for two years.
