Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia As I meditate on Sister Pena’s life and death, one beautiful trait of the character after another unfolds its self to my memory; until I exclaim, "Many daughters have done virtuously but thou have excellest them all." Home was her throne, where she maintained her royal court, and swayed her queenly authority. Her whole deportment all through the sixty years has been beautiful. Even in Death’s cold embrace a halo of Glory encircled her brow. Blessed Lady, bear and forebear; forgive and forget, were the ruling passions of her heart. Charity unlimited was her ornament. Motherless children after children “rise up and call her blessed.” To the troubled ones she bestowed her tears, “Weep with those that weep,” and rejoice with those that do rejoice was a daily maxim. She united with the Methodist church at Zebulon in 1862. She loved her Wonderful Counselor. She regarded her Lord as a Being too holy to almost call his name aloud, but at the midnight hour, on her bended knee, you could hear her soft, pleading petitions ascending to the throne of God. Like the humble little violet, her deeds for Christ were done in modesty, her modesty was worthy of imitation, in every particular. How she loved her nephews and nieces and longed for their salvation. Her brother, how he will miss her; censure me not for being selfish and wanting her to remain on earth a little longer. Suffice to say she was my only sister, ever faithful and true. "Be ye also ready." - Narcissa Dunn (Transcribed 10/12/03 Lynn Cunningham) Additional Comments: Margaret Narcissa Green, sister of Parthenia, was married to Joel David Dunn. Their sister Mattie Green Simmons, wife of George Simmons, died in 1898. On the 1900 Pike County census, Parthenia was living in the Simmons household, tending to Mattie’s children.
